Accreditation

The University is licensed by the State Board of Education through the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education. The license is issued to operate in the State of Alabama and is not associated with accreditation. The University is a private institution not designed to meet the needs of students intending to utilize federal funds. It is the responsibility of each student to determine, prior to registration with Columbus, that his/her degree program will meet any future admission, employment, or transfer requirements. The University makes no representations, promises, or guarantees of employment or acceptability of transfer credits to any public or private educational institution.

Columbus University is also a member of:

  • The British Learning Association, which is a center of expertise that produces best practice examples, identifies trends, and disseminates information on both innovative and well-established techniques and technologies for learning. The aim is to synthesize existing knowledge, develop original solutions, and disseminate these to a wide cross sector membership. The BLA is the cross sector independent forum for advancing distance learning techniques and distance learning technologies in distance learning. It has a high profile membership drawn from companies, colleges and universities, government organizations, learning providers, vocational training bodies, public libraries, organizations with learning centers including those that offer learndirect, consultants, individual practitioners, business support, and research organizations.

  • The Adult Higher Education Alliance, which is an association of people from across the country who are engaged in action learning, reflection and discussion, which we bring to our own lives and into our colleges an universities as teachers and administrators. We are united by our commitment ot adult students, adult education professionals, alternative degree programs for adults, and research supporting adult higher education.>/li>
